6 Tips to Keep Your Home Warm This Winter

Category: Tags :

With winter just around the corner, your home may not be ready to brace for the cooler nights and mornings. Here’re a few small changes that you can do to make your home more comfortable this winter.

WINDOWS

Did you know that up to 40 per cent of your home’s heat can be lost through windows? It is the perfect time to insulate your home, starting with blockout curtains. There’re different types of curtains that might be suitable for your home like thermal insulated curtains or just anything made out of thick material.

ADD A RUG

Rugs can also add an extra layer of warmness and cushioning in the winter months, especially if you have tiles around your home. Think of it like a coat: you need thick material to keep warm, so use heavier rugs for winter.

RUG UP IN A BLANKIE

Take out your throw blankets and place them on sofas, chairs, and beds around your home. What can be better than rugging up in a warm throw blanket while watching a movie on a cold night?

EXTRA PADDING

While taking out your winter set of cushions won’t change the temperature in your home, deeper and warmer colours will make it cozier.

WINTER BEDDING

A similar philosophy applies to winter bedding it just focuses more on bedding with a higher thread count and extra blankets to keep you warm. You may also need to swap to a heavier duvet if you’ve been using a lightweight one for summer.

TAKE OUT THE HEATHER

This one might be a more obvious one, but adapting the above tips can help you insulate your home and as a result, help get your money worth when you use a heater as it will work more efficiently and keep your home warm.
