Families Drive Demand In Premium Suburbs
Inner-city luxury suburbs of Teneriffe, Newstead and New Farm no longer have the highest median house prices in Queensland after years at the top.
Ascot has overtaken these suburbs as the state's most expensive suburb as revealed by CoreLogic.
Ascot is more of a family suburb than its predecessors, with a heavier emphasis on community and better access to schooling.
The Top 10 list also includes new suburbs, including Sunshine Beach in Noosa, Mermaid Beach in Gold Coast and Chevallum on the Sunshine Coast. Western Brisbane suburb of Upper Brookfield is also a new entry to the list. It is said that the job prospects and affordability of Brisbane are factors attracting interstate migration from Sydney and Melbourne to these premium suburbs.
