Is it a good time to sell a home? As house prices and demand soared to new heights, more homeowners are feeling more confident to sell. This is why the trend of increasing listings is likely to continue for the months to come. This demand/supply balance is important whether you’re a buyer or a seller, as when you sell your home, you'll most likely need to find a new home to live in.
The report conducted by Westpac and Insight Data Solutions found that a quarter of Queensland homeowners (39 per cent) are planning to sell their home in the next five years, with 1 in 10 likely to list in the next 12 months. Homeowners in the Moreton Bay region are more likely to list their home for sale than in other areas across Queensland.
Local homeowners in the area who decided to sell in recent months have seen the benefit of selling as they received great returns on their properties. This is because the area has a good lifestyle appeal, a varied range of amenities, and it’s still affordable. It’s especially appealing to those who don’t need to live near Brisbane CBD. There’re a lot of young families in the area, and these homeowners see this as an opportunity to upsize or buy a block of land and build the house of their dreams instead.
Homebuyers looking for units should pay closer attention to the suburbs in Banyo, Northgate, Carindale, Rochedale. Other top areas for units are the suburbs along the train line like Nundah to Nudgee and Mackenzie, Burbank and Carina. When it comes to Sunshine Coast apartment listings, Peregian Springs and Sippy Downs are set to increase in listing numbers. Redland Bay is also forecasted to show an increased listing activity for both units and houses, along with Redcliffe and Scarborough.
